FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has closed its investigation into sexual assault allegations against former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin and have turned their findings over to the State’s Attorney’s Office in Broward County.
Irving is accused of drugging and raping a 27-year-old woman in a Florida hotel but he said the allegations are untrue.
Irvin and his Fort Lauderdale-based attorney Kenneth Padowitz addressed reporters Tuesday, where Irvin maintained his innocence.
“This was a case of I said nothing happened and someone else said something else happened. The assault kit and everything supports what I said…that nothing happened. Period,” he said.
The State’s Attorney’s Office said the investigation is ongoing and that no charges have been filed at this time.
