Progress Made on Frisco Sports Care Facility

FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF) – Major progress has been made on the construction of the new Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy and Research Center in Frisco.

The ceremonial placing of the highest beam on the building happened Tuesday in front of leaders with the City of Frisco, Baylor Scott & White, and the Dallas Cowboys. The building sits just yards from the Dallas Cowboys practice facility.

“This is an innovative center that integrates all aspects of sports care,” said Chief Integration Officer, LaVone Arthur. “We consider the athlete to be anyone between the ages of 8 and 88.”

The center will focus on injury prevention, research and wellness for athletes of all levels, and is expected to become a nationally recognized model for the holistic treatment of physically active individuals upon its completion in early 2018. It is also a first-of-its kind collaboration between an NFL team, a health system and a school district.

When construction started at the facility in 2016 Former President and CEO Joel Allison said “it will focus on preventing injuries and keeping people healthy, the goal of Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star is to make North Texas the safest place in the country to play sports. This initiative is a perfect complement to Baylor Scott & White’s broader strategy of serving communities, with a focus on overall health and wellness.”

The campus at The Star in Frisco will include an ambulatory surgery center, diagnostic imaging, a sports performance program, an urgent care center, outpatient rehabilitation, and a pharmacy. The facility is expected to open in the spring of 2018.
