PROSPER (WBAP/KLIF News) — A nearly $50 million football stadium will be coming to Prosper in the next couple of years.

The city released the blueprint of its new home for football, saying it will hold up to 12,000 people. According to the district, the number falls in line with the projection that Prosper High School will be a 6A school come the 2019-2020 school year.

The stadium will cost $48 million, which is $22 million less than the stadium going up in McKinney and $12 million less than Allen’s. The building will also double as a natatorium, giving multiple high school swim and dive teams their own practice facility.

Right now, there’s only one high school in Prosper, but a second is expected to open in 2020.
