Parkland Hospital Offer “Walk-In Wednesdays” for Back-to-School Vaccinations

DALLAS, (WBAP/KLIF) – Back to school season is around the corner the corner, which means parents will be rushing to get the children vaccinated with the proper immunizations.

Parkland Health will once again offer “Walk-in Wednesdays”, where parents can bring in their children for immunizations without having to make an appointment.

Immunizations during Walk-in Wednesdays will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parents will still be allowed to walk in with their children on other days of the week for vaccinations but appointments are strongly recommended.

Texas children are required to be vaccinated for nine communicable diseases before entering kindergarten through twelfth grade. The diseases include Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Mumps and Hepatitis A.

The World Health Organization reports that vaccines prevent more than 2.5 million child deaths globally. In addition each year 2 million child deaths could be prevented, if child immunizations are up to date.
