Vehicle Fire Spreads to Dallas Apartment Complex

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a fire at the McCallum Meadows Apartments in Far North Dallas Tuesday.

When firefighters arrived they found an SUV burning, underneath a section of covered parking, in front of a thee-story apartment building.
“The flames were able to make it into the attic of the building by way of a tree located immediately in front of it,” said Firefighter Jason Evans. “Firefighters deployed hand-lines, and made it to the third-floor where they were able to locate and extinguish the fire; limiting most of the damage to the area of origin.”
There were a total of 24 units in the apartment building. One unit sustained the majority of the fire damage, while a handful of others suffered varying degrees of damage from smoke and water. Evans says the entire building will most likely be uninhabitable due to the loss of power.
There were no reported injuries to any of the residents, but two firefighters had to be evaluated for heat exhaustion.
Fire investigators determined that the cause of the fire was accidental in nature. In addition to the collateral damage suffered by the building, there was a second vehicle that was partially burned as well.
