Fort Worth Task Force on Race and Culture Gets Update on Progress

Fort Worth, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Created in the aftermath of the controversial arrest of Jacqueline Craig last August, the ‘Fort Worth Task Force on Race and Culture’ was briefed on the city’s efforts to ease police and community relations.

Fort Worth Assistant City Manager Fernando Costa says the task force heard from city officials, including Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald told the public gathering that progress is being made, but there is more work to be done. Fitzgerald also said, “Open and honest communication we’ll get through the tough times that we’re seeing right now.”

The task force also was also briefed by three ministers who authored what was dubbed the ‘Three-E Action Plan’.

Fitzgerald said the three E’s stand for ‘Equity, Equality and Everyone.’ The ministers would like to see progress accelerated to “satisfy the community that Fort Worth is entering into a new day of police-community relations.”

Some task force recommendations already being implemented focus on police training, policy and procedure.
