DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A judge has given a second chance to a dog once owned by a Dallas panhandler after it had initially been sentenced to die.

The dog, named “Lamb of God”, is known as Lamby and was ordered to be euthanized after it bit a child.

Lee Jamison is the director of Awwdoptable Animal Rescue in Oak Cliff and said a group of Deep Ellum and Oak Cliff residents didn’t think the dog deserved death.

“The owner himself has been beaten up in front of this dog. Sometimes people push the bike over with the dog in it. So, the dog has learned to be weary of people,” she said.

According to a petition on change.org, Lamby spent her life stuffed in a create and had sunglasses and a hat bound on her with rubber bands to encourage passersby to donate money.

Jamison said Lambie was protective of it’s owner but is definitely not a lost cause.

“Clearly there were other options,” she said.

The same judge who sentenced Lambie to death agreed and later ordered that she be taken to the “Austin Pets Alive” rehab facility.

It’s a non-profit facility that specializes in dogs most at risk for euthanasia.
