Southwest is among the world’s most admired companies, according to a recent survey by Fortune Magazine.
The magazine surveyed over 700 executives to see who they most admired, and the Dallas-based airline came in at #8.
Southwest got high marks for people management and social responsibility and is the only airline to crack the top 20 on the list. It is the 24th consecutive year the airline has been honored by Fortune.
Other north Texas companies to crack the top fifty include Plano-based Toyota Motor Co., Irving-based Exxon Mobil and Dallas-based AT&T.
