Dallas Police Affidavit Contradicts Police Officer’s Account of Botham Jean Shooting

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police Department search warrant affidavit saystwo bullet casings, a police backpack and vest and 10.4 grams of marijuana, lunch box, a laptop computer, a metal marijuana grinder, two radio frequency identification keys – the type of keys used to enter units at the South Side Flats, and two used packages of medical aid” were also seized from the apartment.

Meantime, the DPD affidavit contracts the Texas Rangers arrest affidavit for officer Amber Gugyer, who says she had mistakenly entered 26-year old Bothem Jean’s apartment, thinking it was her own; and fired her weapon thinking that she had encountered an intruder.

The Dallas Police record says that Jean met Guyger at the door, while Guyger told the Texas Rangers that Jean was across the room when she entered the door that was “ajar.”

Meantime lawyers for the family of Bothem Jean — the man allegedly shot in his apartment by a Dallas Police officer — are blasting a Dallas police affidavit released Thursday calling it an attempt to smear him.

Attorney Lee Merritt says,”They went in with the intent to look for some sort of criminal justification for the victim, it’s a pattern that we’ve seen before.”

Guyger is charged with manslaughter and is on administrative leave as the investigation continues. She’s free on $300,000 bond.
