DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A former Mesquite Police Officer is on trial this week in Dallas County.
Derick Wiley is charged with Aggravated Assault by a Public Servant. Wiley allegedly shot Lyndo Jones while Jones was standing outside of his truck. Jones survived and his Civil Attorney Lee Merritt said Tuesday that he’ll testify.
“I think the jury and people who hear his testimony will have an opportunity to see what this is like from his perspective,” said Merritt. “It’s a unique position because the truth is he should have died.”
Jones is expected to take the stand Wednesday.
Wiley says he thought Jones was breaking into the truck.
