Dallas City Councilman Defends Voting Against Police Pay Raise

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas City Councilman is sorry to those he offended after comments made while voting against a pay raise for Dallas police officers.

Councilman Lee Kleinman said he is concerned about police unions and whether the city would increase taxes.

“I’m sorry I offended some people. That was not not the intention,” Kleinman said on WBAP’s Rick Roberts Show Thursday. “My intention was to try to get the attention of my colleagues to get an understanding of what we were talking about around that Council Chamber.”

Kleinman said during the meeting this week there are out of control unions that protect officers gunning down the community.

The pay raise passed overwhelmingly.
