Southwest and American Pilots Unions Question Potential Safety Risk

Dallas/Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Two pilots’ unions representing local airlines are blaring the horns on safety risks related to the Boeing 737 Max airplanes.

The Dallas Morning News reports pilots at Dallas-based Southwest and Fort Worth-based American airlines say the potential risked linked to a deadly crash in Indonesia were not adequately spelled out in their manuals or training.

The FAA joined Boeing last week in issuing directives alerting flight crews about the system — designed to provide extra protection against pilots losing control.

The directive led to the realization that none of the documentation included an explanation of the system, according to union leaders.
