Fort Worth Boil Water Notice

FORT WORTH – (WBAP/KLIF) –  Fort Worth water department officials are asking people who live in homes or work in businesses on 86 lots along Farnsworth Avenue to boil water before drinking or using it to cook.  The city says showering, using the dishwasher and doing laundry at affected addresses are safe at the current time. Higher than normal bacterial levels have been found after a homeowner called to complain about cloudy water last week.

Testing has shown higher than normal amounts of coliform bacteria, which spokesperson Sandy Baker says is NOT the dangerous and often deadly E COLI bacteria.  Addresses affected along Farnsworth Avenue include those between Horne and Prevost Streets, in the Como neighborhood.  Affected homeowners have been provided with cases and additional large containers of bottled water until testing shows the issue is resolved.

Baker says the all clear signal for water consumption straight from the tap could come as soon as Sunday; city officials are working on several tests, which require about 24 hours to complete.
