
MIDLAND (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Central Texas man has been charged in the shooting death of Midland police officer who was responding to a burglary call early Tuesday morning.
According to Heavy.com, 37-year-old David Charles Wilson, CEO of Unitex Oil and Gas LLC, is free on bond on a manslaughter charge in the death of officer Nathan Heidelberg.
Authorities said Heidelberg was with three other officers when they identified themselves at the house but Wilson allegedly fired several shots at Heidlberg, who was holding a flashlight at the time.
He was hit just above his protective vest.
Since news of his death spread, police departments across North Texas are showing support for the Midland Police Department.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
