DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — The nationwide college admissions scandal involving alleged bribery at some of the country’s most elite schools has inspired top private universities in North Texas to investigate their own admissions practices.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University are conducting internal reviews though neither school has been named in the largest admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Justice Department.

The federal charges accuse a California businessman of arranging major university admissions for the children of wealthy parents willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes.

After the story broke Texas Governor Greg Abbott urged Texas colleges to thoroughly vet their own admissions practices to make sure related or similar scams haven’t been practiced here.
