Texas Not One Of States Affected By Recent Melon Salmonella Outbreak

WASHINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) –​ The Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration say a salmonella outbreak that has affected 117 people in 10 states is linked to pre-cut melon. The likely source is said to be Caito Foods in Illinois, but the investigation is ongoing. The melon is sold at stores like Kroger, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Amazon.com, and Whole Foods. The recall now in effect has been expanded to include pre-cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fruit medley products. The states where those products were distributed are Illinois, Indiana,  Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
