WATCH: Police Warn of Consequences for Threatening Mass Shootings

Deputy Chief Mike Hagan

FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF) – Police reports from across the country show that nearly 30 people have been arrested over threats of mass shootings since the massacre’s in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas this month that killed 31 people on August 3.

Last week in Florida, a 15 year old told Police he was joking after threatening a mass shooting. Police are now warning of the risks involved with similar threats.

In North Texas, the Frisco Police Department has taken their plea to stop the threats to social media with a video made by Deputy Chief Mike Hagan.

“A terroristic threat is any threat or statement causing alarm to someone and creating a reaction,” said Hagan. “If you do make a statement that is a terroristic threat or a threat on a student or a school we have to take that 100-percent honest and we’ll prosecute if we deem necessary and prove that it was a legitimate threat.”

Hagan said making a terroristic threat could bring up to a 3rd Degree Felony.
