Federal judge threatens to put heat on Texas prison officials

Houston (WBAP/KLIF) – A federal judge in Houston has threatened to have Texas prison officials experience the same hot temperatures prison inmates say they are still living with, even though the state settled a lawsuit over oppressive heat more than a year ago. Attorneys for the inmates say prison officials are not adhering to the terms of the settlement. During Friday’s court hearing in Houston, Judge Keith Ellison delayed a ruling on possible sanctions until he’s heard from prison wardens and other officials at a hearing on Tuesday. A lawyer with the Texas Attorney General’s office told Judge Ellison officials are working to fix the problem.
