Do you know how heavy a US Airways Airbus 319 is? I do. Because I helped to pull one 15 feet down the tarmac at D/FW Airport.
As part of its own annual team-building event, the airport invited groups of pilots, mechanics, firefighters and media to compete in an airplane-pulling event. And Cumulus Radio, captained by Freda Ross, signed up to participate.
Unfortunately, WBAP/KLIF Radio couldn’t pull together a team of 20 people. But (luckily for us), the D/FW Airport Fire Dept. was happy to “donate” a few firefighters to our little crew. I’m sure it helped in the long run, although we still finished somewhere in the middle of the pack, with a time just over five seconds.
How heavy is an Airbus 319. Very heavy.
