ROCKWALL COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF 24/7 NEWS) – The strategy of Eric Williams' defense team not cross examining or calling any witnesses in his capital murder trial is a common one.
Criminal Defense Attorney Barry Sorrels explains the defense team is just preparing for the next part of the trial.
"The real battleground in these cases is the punishment phase, where it's a different ballgame than guilt or innocence."
He says its good that it took the jury almost two hours to deliberate before reaching their verdict, because that shows they put real thought into the evidence presented by the prosecution.
