GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF 24/7 News) – The Orion spacecraft project, which launched into space this week on a test flight, was partially tested in North Texas.
Lockheed Martin's John Kent says NASA used the wind tunnel at the Grand Prairie facility.
"The high-speed wind tunnel supported three tests of the Orion Launch Abort Vehicle back in 2007, in the early days of the program."
The wind tunnel is only one of two in the U.S. that can run wind tests at mach 5 speeds.
