DALLAS (AP) – The Dallas emergency room doctor who first treated a Liberian man with Ebola is defending his decision to send him home.
Dr. Joseph Howard Meier told the "Dallas Morning News" he didn't see that Thomas Eric Duncan had a 103 degree temperature when he first came into the emergency room September 26th for treatment. Meier also claims he was unaware Duncan had recently traveled to Dallas from Liberia.
The sick man returned to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital two days later in an ambulance and was quickly diagnosed with Ebola. He died October 8th.
The hospital has acknowledged that mistakes were made in its care of Duncan.
