Al Lipscomb Way

DALLAS (WBAP 24/7 NEWS) – A new honor for former Dallas city councilman Al Lipscomb.

A 1.6 mile stretch of Grand Avenue is being renamed after him. The section will run from the Trinity River to Fair Park.

Lipscomb was convicted fifteen years ago of 65 counts of bribery and conspiracy. He was accused of accepting monthly cash payments from the owner of Yellow Cab Company for favorable votes. The conviction was later overturned on a technicality.

The civil rights leader died in 2011 at the age of 86.
