DALLAS (WBAP 24/7 NEWS) – The Dallas Zoo will spend $3 million to upgrade its 25 year old Monorail Safari.
The renovation project includes upgrading electrical and mechanical components, adding air-conditioning for the passenger cars and a diesel powered tug to bring trains back to the station if there's a power outage.
The zoo halted operations of the monorail last August after it shut down during a power outage. It was the third time in three years that fire crews had responded after stoppages.
The renovation is expected to be finished by August.
