Center for Medical Progress Founder Won’t Take Plea Deal

Houston (WBAP/KLIF News) – A lawyer for the founder of the Center for Medical Progress says David Daleiden will not seek a plea deal for his charge of tampering with a governmental record.

Daleiden has posted bond, and his lawyer, Jerry Woodfill, says he is prepared to take the case to trial.

“The reality is David is a modern day hero,” Woodfill says. “He has exposed the wrongdoing that has been occurring at abortion clinics all across the country. The fact that he is here today is a miscarriage of justice.”

Woodfill says he hopes to quash the indictment, and Daleiden would not be interested in a sentence that involves probation instead of prison time.

Instead, Woodfill says prosecutors should be filing charges against Planned Parenthood.

“It’s outrageous that it’s David who’s having to present himself to the court when it’s Planned Parenthood who should be on trial,” Woodfill says.

Daleiden said he is grateful for support he has received. He said he hopes for a day when “there is no longer a price tag on human life.”

Sandra Merritt turned herself in on Wednesday. Her lawyers say she was offered probation, but they have not decided whether to take or reject the offer.
