A Lawsuit Moves Forward

kingston councilDALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Organizers of a porn convention are suing the city of Dallas, Mayor Rawlings and the seven council members who voted to ban their event from a city-owned building.

Dallas City Councilman Phillip Kingston doesn’t think the eight council members who voted for the ban know how serious the situation is for the city.

“You have to recognize the practical result of your vote is that you have now made the City of Dallas the premiere destination for porn in the United States.”

He adds the legal bill for the city could be very expensive.

The Council has also voted to not immediately remove the Trinity River’s Standing Wave, which creates artificial white water rapids.

Councilman Phillip Kingston says city staff mislead the council when it said Standing Wave can be fixed.

“The option the staff is presenting is a Trojan horse designed to try to convince the Council later of a potential fix, instead of a removal.”

It opened in 2011, but was closed almost immediately because of safety issues.
