Lawsuit Dismissed in Case of Mentally Ill Man Shot by Police

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The attorney for the woman who saw her mentally ill son shot and killed by Dallas Police says she’s distraught a judge has ruled in favor of the police department.

Geoff Henley says the mentally ill shouldn’t be diagnosed by firearms.

“There absolutely has to be a better balance between the needs of law enforcement, which we respect, and the results that I have seen in these cases, where the wrong people are responding to the wrong circumstances.”

The officers said Jason Harrison lunged at them with a screwdriver. His mother said her son didn’t lunge at them at all.
