KELLER, Texas (AP) – Several train cars considered by some to be symbols of a North Texas city’s history are being removed to make way for more parking spots.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the removal comes as part of a more than $4 million development project in the Old Town area of Keller.
The city plans to keep one of the four cars in Old Town and move it to a more prominent spot when the renovation is done. But it’s unclear what will happen to the other cars.
The Old Town Keller Merchants Association was unsuccessful in asking the city to move one of the cars, a vintage 1917 Rock Island Railroad car, to a park that houses a local museum. It’s now considering other options to save the car.
