Students Vote to Change School’s Name

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Students at a junior high school in Dallas have decided on a new name for their campus.

Students voted to drop Confederate General John B. Hood’s name from their school in the Pleasant Grove area.

They’ve selected a new name, Piedmont Global Academy, which is the neighborhood where the campus is located.

63% of students voted for Piedmont.

27% voted for Helen Keller and 10% for Mahatma Gandhi.

Final approval will be up to Dallas School District Trustees.
