Dallas Deals with Rising Murder Rate

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The murder rate in Dallas is up sharply in the first quarter of 2016.

There have been three double murders within the past five days.

Dymdric Williams and Taydren Young were murdered last week in an apartment in northeast Dallas.

On Saturday, two men were shot on North Masters Drive.

Two people were killed on South Cockrell Hill Road early Tuesday morning.

There have been 41 killings so far in 2016 compared to 24 in the first quarter of 2015.

Ron Pinkston with the Dallas Police Association said he’s not sure what’s behind the increase in the rate.  He said chaos and low morale in the department is not helping.
