93-Year-old Dallas Woman Fights to Keep Home

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) A 93-year-old Dallas woman has through tomorrow to file an appeal to keep her home. A faded blue house at the corner of Thomas Avenue and Allen Street in Uptown has been in Ruth Mae Sanders’ family for more than 100 years. Her mother-in-law once made a living telling fortunes in the house, and the property all around it has been redeveloped into businesses and townhomes. The Dallas Morning News reports a local real estate firm is suing Sanders, saying she went back on a deal to sell years ago. But a doctor says Sanders likely has dementia that was setting in long before the deal, and an attorney says this means she was not mentally capable of signing any important paperwork. Brokers for the real estate firm argue they rightfully earned a commission for the sale of the house.
