(WBAP/KLIF) – Senate Republicans are not budging after an increasing number of calls from Democrats to hold hearings on President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland.
Even if large numbers of Americans call for hearings on the President’s nominee, Senator John Cornyn says it will not happen.
“Our position remains the same,” said Senator Cornyn of Texas. “Texans and folks across the country should have a chance to weigh in on this important matter.”
Cornyn says while some argue the President is elected to two four-year terms, the 2014 election cannot be ignored when it comes to checks and balances.
“You can’t disregard the election of 2014 when voters gave Republicans the majority,” said Cornyn.
