
DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A former sheriff’s deputy in Ellis County is accused of stealing guns from the department’s evidence room.
After 15 years with the force, Lieutenant Phillip Slaughter abruptly resigned in March.
Texas Rangers were called in to investigate and he was arrested.
Slaughter is accused of selling the guns at a pawn shop in Ennis.
He’s facing six felony charges.
Slaughter’s bond was set at $500,000.
