Arlington Officer Released from Hospital After Shooting

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – An Arlington police officer who was shot while trying to serve a warrant Monday night was released from the hospital Tuesday.

The officer was hospitalized for a few hours following the shooting near the University of Texas-Arlington that also resulted in a murder suspect being shot. The suspect was also hospitalized.

The officer was assisting Saginaw police as they tried to serve a warrant related to a murder over the weekend. Jordan Miles, 17, was shot and killed during an argument outside of his home on Saturday. Miles would have turned 18 on Tuesday and was due to graduate from Saginaw High School in May.

The 23-year-old suspect, Joel McCommon, is under police guard at a nearby hospital.
