DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS) – Amid complaints of high prices and stiff competition among other specialty grocers, Fresh Market has announced it’s closing more than a dozen stores…including four in north Texas.
The North Carolina based chain of 186 stores, had recently been bought out by Apollo Global Management for $1.36 billion. Apollo decided to close unprofitable stores and focus on the growth of the remaining stores. Fresh Market plans to shutter the doors at the two Dallas locations, one in Southlake and one in Fort Worth as well as four others in Houston on May 18th. Each store employs about 60 people. The stores opened this morning with discounted prices.
