DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) Apartment residents met with Dallas city leaders to talk about the deplorable conditions they are living with. Units in the Bachman Lake area were found to have mold, pests, and walls with holes. One man told the Dallas Morning News he frequently has no hot water. But landlords say the city cracking down on housing standards is forcing them to raise rents on apartments with issues that are supposed to be covered under the state’s property code. They want the city to enforce the current rules. Proposed changes to regulations presented to the council today include higher standards for air conditioning and water heating capabilities and stiffer penalties for landlords who don’t comply.
