Guidelines Created Without Input From Public and Parents, Crowd Tells FWISD Board

FT. WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Many people at a hearing in Fort Worth say they don’t like being left out of the decision-making process.

At a public hearing at Dunbar High School on restroom guidelines for transgendered students, many of those commenting said they felt like the guidelines had been created without any input from the public.

“We didn’t get a chance to vote on this, it was pushed down our throats,” said one of the attendees. “Not only is it disrespectful, but it tells us that we are being ignored.”

The district is planning a series of public hearings across the city. See the list below for a meeting close to you; all start at 7:00 pm:

May 31: Dunbar High School, 5700 Ramey Ave, Fort Worth

June 1: Polytechnic High School, 1300 Conner Ave, Fort Worth

June 2: Paschal High School, 3001 Forest Park Blvd. in Fort Worth

June 6: Arlington Heights High School, 4501 West Freeway, Fort Worth

June 7: North Side High School, 2211 Mckinley Ave, Fort Worth

June 9: South Hills High School, 6101 McCart Ave, Fort Worth
