DALLAS (AP) – The Pentagon is investigating why the shooter who killed five Dallas police officers received an honorable discharge from the Army after he was accused of sexually harassing a fellow soldier.
Col. Patrick Seiber is an Army spokesman. He says the military is reviewing all of Micah Johnson’s records.
Johnson served in the Army Reserve for six years. His military-appointed attorney says he had prepared documents for a far more severe “other than honorable” exit, but he never received the final paperwork.
Bradford Glendening told The Associated Press that “somebody really screwed up” to his client’s benefit. Glendening says he is now under orders from the Army not to speak to reporters about the case or he could be subject to military prosecution.
