Lewisville to Conduct ‘Active Shooter’ Drill

LEWISVILLE (WBAP/KLIF News) – If you see a heavy police and fire presence near Valley Ridge Elementary School in Lewisville on Tuesday, it is just a drill.

The City of Lewisville is conducting its annual “Active Shooter Drill” to gauge how emergency responders act in the case of a shooting.

The drill is expected to start around 9:30 a.m. and could last as long as an hour and a half, depending on how quickly police and fireman handle the simulation.

Officials said there will be simulated victims inside the school, and the goal is to be able to neutralize the threat and treat and escort injured victims out as quickly and safely as possible.
