Pantego (WBAP/KLIF News) – With summer showing no mercy, police in Pantego are busy putting up posters with a simple message…”Where’s Baby?” It may be hard for some to believe, but some people actually do forget their kids are asleep in the back seat when they run inside to shop, says Chief Tom Griffith.
“And the idea behind this is to jog people’s memories,” said Griffith. “If they happen to leave their child in the car when they enter a store, hopefully when they see this poster, they’ll realize they’ve done that, then go back and get their child out of that car.”
Griffith says he’s actually had to break a car window to get an unresponsive child out when the parents couldn’t be found. He says you have to make that decision for yourself, but a child’s life is more valuable than a car window.
