Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Two Fort Worth Police officers investigating a domestic disturbance call were shot Friday night. They were gunned down while approaching a shed in the backyard of a home on Wharton Drive near Southwest High School. Fort Worth’s Police Chief says officer Ray Azucena, and his probationary partner Xavier Serrano, had found the body of an elderly man who had been shot to death inside the home, and were told the person responsible was hiding in the shed. They were hit by a flurry of shots as they approached, and both went down, but were able to return fire as they fell. Serrano is hospitalized in stable condition. Azucena has been released. The gunman was found dead inside the shed about four hours later. It has not yet been revealed how he died. Fort Worth Police records show officers have been called to that home multiple times for domestic disturbances involving a father and son.
