Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas County has a budget for fiscal year 2017.
The $1 billion spending plan calls for an 8% pay raise for county employees. At Tuesday’s public meeting, one man told County Judge Clay Jenkins that after a seven-year pay freeze, any less of a raise wouldn’t cut it.
“Your vehicle allowance is more than the pay raise some employees will receive. If the pay raise is lower than 6%, It will tell employees just where we stand in the eyes of the Court.”
Last month, Commissioners gave themselves a 6% raise.
They voted 3-1 to pass the budget with the 8% raise. Jenkins abstained, and Commissioner Mike Cantrell voted no.
