FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Tarrant County Commissioners approved $7 million for tax refunds.
In an unanimous vote on Tuesday, commissioners approved using money from the county reserve fund to make sure that property taxes are paid in a timely matter.
Last month, county taxpayers were told about another $8.7 million in refunds on top of the $3 million that were already being processed.
The Tarrant County Tax Assessor’s Office said the refunds come at a time when tax collections typically slow down.
County officials blamed the problem on a software upgrade that made it difficult to produce a timely and accurate property tax roll.
