DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — A man was struck by a DART train late Wednesday night while laying on the tracks at the Baylor station near downtown Dallas.
DART Spokesman Morgan Lyons said the train’s operator did not see the man quickly enough and could not stop the train in time. The man suffered serious injuries to his legs, but is expected to survive.
The incident marks the second time in 10 days and the third time in just over a month that somebody has been hit by a DART train. The other two incidents involved people running trying to beat an oncoming train.
“Trains cannot stop on a dime. The trains cannot turn left or right,” DART spokesman Mark Ball said after the second incident this month. “The trains have the right away, and when you’re in DART’s right away, please be aware of the fact that trains may be coming.”
The DART train is back up and running on its normal schedule on the green line at the Baylor station, but the DCTA A-train that connects to the green line north of Dallas is experiencing 20-30 minute delays as of Thursday morning.
