TEA Rejects Dallas ISD’s Plan to Fix Failing Schools

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The state has rejected the Dallas Independent School District’s plans to fix eight failing schools.

The Texas Education Agency ordered DISD Trustees to attend governance training or face stiff penalties, state-appointed campus principals, temporary dissolution of the school board or school closures.

Former DISD Board Member turned Education Commissioner Mike Morath said he will use stronger interventions for districts with struggling schools, and that his goal is to cut the number of Texas’ failing schools in half.
