Taking Back Prescription Drugs to Prevent Future Addictions

(WBAP/KLIF) – Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-back Day and the U.S. Attorney for North Texas is teaming up with the local DEA office to raise awareness.

U.S. Attorney John Parker says no one illegally taking prescription drugs is doing it to become an addict.

“It starts off very simply with someone thinking, ‘I can do this one time and quit when I want,'” said Parker. “They find out that the nature of these drugs and the properties of these drugs, the addictive properties, are such that they can’t just quit.”

Several police departments throughout the Metroplex will serve as places where people can take their unused medication. The goal is to help prevent anyone from becoming an addict.
