DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Representatives with the City of Dallas and tenants of a low-rent housing landlord will be in court Monday trying to head off mass evictions.
They’ll be asking a 95th District Court judge to extend a temporary restraining order against HMK LTD. HMK owns 300 low-rent properties, mostly in west Dallas.
It’s trying to evict all of its tenants so it can go out of business rather than comply with a city order that it bring all of its properties up to city code.
The city’s trying to delay that until at least the end of the school year.
The two sides met Sunday night, but there’s no official word on what progress, if any, they made.
