DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The remaining residents of Dallas’ “Tent City” have to find a new home on Tuesday.
Starting at 9:00 a.m., the remaining 37 people living at the encampment under Interstate 30 near Haskell and South Hill Avenues will be forced to clear out.
Over the last few weeks, the City of Dallas and local homeless advocates managed to place 45 residents of the encampment into shelters and permanent housing.
It’s the third “Tent City” to be closed in Dallas since May and the impact of the housing-oriented closures won’t be known until the annual homeless count next January.
The last count taken showed there were 539 unsheltered homeless people in Dallas.
