North Texas Forensic Scientist Removed from Cases

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – A state forensic scientist has been removed from testing Driving While Intoxicated cases at prosecutors’ requests.

The Department of Public Safety will have to retest thousands of blood samples in DWI cases in Dallas, Collin, Denton and Rockwall counties due to inconsistencies found in Chris Youngkin’s testimony.

Youngkin’s credibility was called into question over a 2013 lab error in Garland that showed a driver who had not been drinking had a high blood alcohol level.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Youngkin gave conflicting testimony about that error in different trials in different counties.
