Convention of States Looks to Enlist Veterans

COS_SimCon_LogoDallas (WBAP/KLIF News) -The Convention of the States Project is calling on veterans to step up and join the team.

Co-Director of the COS for the state of Texas, Tamara Colbert, says veterans have smarts, organizational skills, and a love of country.

“There isn’t one veteran I’ve ever come across who thinks their oath ended the day they stopped being on active duty,” said Colbert.

A Convention of the States is also known as a 5th Amendment Convention.  It’s a method written into the US Constitution’s 5th Amendment, to empower the states to recommend and pass amendments.  Delegates to the Convention would then take the proposed amendments back to their individual states for approval.

Colbert says the Convention Project’s new Veterans Coalition is a great way for veterans to continue serving their country, by participating in the process, speaking at VFW, American Legion and other civic group meetings, and working with their state legislators.  If you’d like to know more, click here to go to the Convention of the States Project’s web page.
